Sapporo is a large city rich in nature and very beautiful, but winter can be a bit challenging due to the need for snow removal. Recently, the weather has been very bad with blizzards, making it difficult to go out by car. Sometime you can’t see ahead. The roads become bumpy, and it’s hard to drive. Still, I have to take my daughter to kindergarten. However, driving in winter is good training for driving skills.
However, the winter in Sapporo is very wonderful. Above all, the snowy landscape is very beautiful, and the city just after it has snowed is white and fantastical. Walking through the fluffy snow feels very pleasant. When you come back from the very cold outside and enter a warm room, it is very comforting. Warm drinks are good, but I like to slowly warm up with red wine that I drink with my evening meal.
We often goes to places where we can play with our child on snowy days. ‘Sapporo Satoland’ (Higashi ward, Sapporo) and ‘Noshi Park’ (Nishi ward, Sapporo ) are very good places for playing in the snow.

The winter in Sapporo is cold and often falls below freezing. Even so, children wear snow gear, hats, and gloves, of course, and energetically play in the park, such as sledding.
